A broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal drug used for both topical and, less commonly, systemic treatment of severe fungal infections. It inhibits cytochrome P450 14$\alpha$-demethylase, disrupting ergosterol synthesis. It is widely used in shampoos and creams to treat seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff caused by fungal overgrowth.
